No Carbon Taxes
Carbon point legislation has been widely adopted by other nations. Unfortunately, it is a short sighted plan that will ultimately stall economic progress toward real carbon emission control. The Kyoto Accord is short on solutions and unbalanced relative to the needs of all Nations. The proposed international system of capping greenhouse emissions and trading carbon points between corporations will hurt the economic revival of the Global economy. Using cap and trade legislation, projections on carbon reductions show that only 20% can be lowered in 30 years. Instead, a series of actual innovations need to be made that will halt the flow of carbon into the atmosphere. For instance, carbon looping is possible with industry. By investing in the infrastructure necessary to clean smokestacks and mufflers, we can drastically reduce emissions over a short period. Carbon sequestration can be attained using renewable resources, like geothermal energy, thus, eliminating the inefficiency of the Future Gen project. Also, livestock methane emissions contribute to more than 5 times the emissions from automobiles. Dairy waste energy plants can actually utilize these emissions to create energy. We propose a broad spectrum solution to greenhouse gases that tackle the problem aggressively.
The UN Convention on Climate Change sets an overall framework for intergovernmental efforts to tackle the challenge posed by climate change. The climate is a shared resource whose stability can be affected by industrial and other emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. We will address the convention with new innovative solutions to Global Climate Change. The Kyoto accord is not the final word. We will propose answers that donot destabiliza the World Economy and create new layers of fraud and bureaucracy.
