We live in a high-tech world, yet we rely on expensive textbooks to teach our children. Instead of textbooks, we can give every child who starts school a personal laptop. This would save taxpayers money and save the planets resources. It would also teach children to respect property as they would only have one laptop for their 12 year education.
Once children have these laptops, we should allow children to learn at home via online classes. These classes can be taught by a teacher remotely, or self-contained programs can be developed where children learn at their own pace following a set of computer modules. Children often teach each other how to play video games. This same resource can be used to teach each other how to read, write and solve math problems.
Eventually, we can create online accredited universities where students learn at their own pace and earn a degree when they pass required tests via secure timed websites.
