They say it takes a village to raise a child. Now that we live in a high-tech society, there seems to be less community involvement in children's lives. We believe that this attitude needs to change. In order to help children become productive member of society when they are older is through community participation while they are young. Valuable lessons children need to learn include stewardship for the earth we live in and respect for other people's property. These lessons cannot be taught behind a desk in the classroom. However, these lessons can be taught through mentorship programs. As children grow older, they can learn skills needed for business through apprenticeship programs. When people in the community join forces to help our children today, we will create a brighter tomorrow. We will no longer have children playing in unsafe streets in their neighborhoods. Instead, they will learn valuable lessons both in and out of the classroom, from the community.
